Digitisation Centre
Digitisation Centre
The Digitisation Centre in the Library is responsible for digitising book chapters and journal articles as part of the library’s Reading List Support Service. Located within the Archives and Special Collections Reading Room, the centre also manages the digitisation of items from the Library's Archives and Special Collections.
The Digitisation Centre houses three high spec scanners:
- a Bookeye 3 A1 scanner for scanning large format items and loose archival material;
- a Kirtas 1200 book scanner. The Kirtas 1200 scanner is one of the models used by Google Books and is the only scanner of its type in Ireland; and
- A tripod-mounted Canon EOS 6D Digital SLR camera with 24-70mm lens
A self-service book2net Spirit book scanner is also located in the microfilm room, adjacent to the Archives and Special Collections Reading Room. This can be used to scan material to a USB device, however **please note that archival and special collections material cannot be removed from the reading room for self-service scanning**.
