The Academic Skills Team in the library supports the information needs of all staff & students.

We are located in the Library foyer. Call in to us or log a ticket for personalised help.

The above guides are intended as a self-directed resource to help you through your studies. Are you a first year student, just starting to be asked to use Library resources independently by your instructor (i.e. outside your reading list), or are you returning to third-level education after some time away? You might get started with the sections on Sources, on Evaluating Information and on Academic Integrity. Are you starting a major research assignment i.e. final year project or Master's project? Not a bad idea to check it out all the way through, starting with section one, which covers the very important Research Question

Reading List Service Training for Academic Staff

This is an introductory training session demonstrating the Library's reading list management service. This service is aimed at lecturers or any teaching/adminstrative staff involved in reading list provision.

This new teaching support service integrates:

  • your readings lists hosted online
  • Blackboard
  • library resources
  • library ordering & article/chapter scanning

The session will demonstrate the following:

  • creating & editing reading lists online
  • bookmarking/linking to full text
  • structuring lists
  • publishing lists
  • adding lists to Blackboard

PCs will be available for this session. Teaching staff can bring laptops for convenience if preferred.
