Academic Skills

Academic skills are the abilities that you have – or that you will learn – to be successful in third-level education, postgraduate studies, and in your working life thereafter. The library is an important place to find out more about essential academic skills, particularly information skills.

 Services Available

  • Our Academic Skills Librarians teach digital and information literacy skills in a number of formats. Librarians offer workshops that are embedded in course modules. We also have a rich suite of scheduled tutorials that students or staff can sign up, as well as drop-in sessions.

  • Need some personalized help? Visit our Academic Skills Hub located in the library foyer, where you can get one-to-one assistance with information skills.   • Our growing collection of Library Guides and Tutorials include topical guides such as conducting a literature review and citation and referencing to help sharpen your academic skills. They also include subject guides to help take you through relevant information resources to your field of study and research.

Our Academic Skills Team

We offer help for all levels of learners in a range of skills including  locating information, citation and plagiarism and digital skills as well as a wide range of other academic skills.
