Local Studies
As befits a University which takes its community remit very seriously, the library has for many years collected material relating to the West of Ireland and the local Galway area. This is reflected in some of the donated collections, as well as in our modern Local Studies Collection held in the Archives and Special Collections Reading Room.
Online Services
A comprehensive list of Irish local studies periodicals is available at https://tbreen.home.xs4all.nl/journals.html The library usually subscribes to a selection of these titles though it is important to note that MOST are only available in hard copy format. The list below endeavours to note where online issues of part or all of the title or tables of contents are accessible including through our library’s subscription to JSTOR or other online providers. Many societies have websites and/or Facebook pages through which they can be contacted if you wished to purchase a particular journal issue.
